You can use the Taglocity Conversation Reader instead of the Outlook Reading Pane.
To use the Conversation Reader in place of the Outlook Reading Pane
1. | Turn off the Outlook Reading Pane ( How? On the Outlook View menu or tab, click Reading Pane and select Off ) |
2. | In Outlook 2003 and 2007, click the Taglocity button on the Taglocity toolbar, click Conversation Reader, then click View |
In Outlook 2010, click the Taglocity ribbon, then click Conversation Reader in the Layout group
3. | Click any location not linked to the Reading Pane (i.e. The Outlook Reading Pane which is now off) |
Note Just like the Outlook Reading Pane, the Conversation Reader is turned on or off per folder. This means you can choose to have the Outlook Reading Pane on for some folders and the Taglocity Conversation Reader on for others.
Outlook 2003 and 2007 menu:
Note Outlook remembers the Reading Pane setting for each folder so you may need to turn the Reading Pane off for each folder otherwise both the Taglocity Conversation Reader and the Outlook Reading Pane will both be visible. This will change your preferred region sizes.
Tip In Compact Mode, the Conversation Reader works well along side the Outlook Reading Pane. See Enhance the Outlook Reading Pane.
Note If you embed the Conversation Reader to one of the Outlook Reading Pane locations, then the Outlook Reading Pane must be on On the Outlook View menu, click Reading Pane, then select either Right or Bottom or the Conversation Reader will not be visible either.
Why Use the Conversation Reader in place of the Outlook Reading Pane?
The Taglocity Conversation Reader provides many improvements over the Outlook Reading Pane and since the screen space in Outlook is limited, you may want to use the space for the Taglocity Conversation Reader. It shows the same fully rendered view of the currently selected email as the Outlook Reading Pane does, but gives these additional benefits:
• | If the current email is part of a conversation (thread), then a summary bubbles of all related emails are shown in a resizable pane in chronological order next to the full view of the current email |
• | These related emails are pulled from anywhere so it doesn't matter which folder they are located; you will not need to go looking for replies or wonder if there is more recent information related to the current email |
• | Clicking on any of the summary bubbles (related emails) loads that message into full view, and includes the location in the header (i.e. which folder it is stored in) |
• | You can quickly tag individual messages in the conversation, or assign tags to the entire conversation, and also mark the conversation to the tags automatically assigned to future related messages |
• | You can toggle between compact mode which shows just the summary bubbles, or normal mode which shows both the fully rendered view of the current email, as well as the summary bubbles |
• | You can click on the message in the Taglocity Conversation Reader to open it Outlook if you want to take action on it (i.e. reply, forward, view attachments, etc.) |
Tip If you are using the Conversation Reader embedded in Outlook in a small space, you can hide the controls panel on the bottom of the Conversation Reader window by clicking the Hide button in the bottom panel. Click the Show button on the top panel to show it again.
Tip Jump to Setup Your Workspace for location ideas.
