Taglocity uses the Windows Search service for many features such as the Conversation Reader, Taglocity Search, Suggested Tags, Mute, and the Contact Bar. These features will not work if Windows Search is not installed on your computer, or if the Windows Search service is stopped.

Important If you use an Microsoft Exchange account, please make sure you are using Cached Exchange Mode otherwise Windows Search cannot index your data because it resides on a server, not your local computer. Taglocity notifies you if Windows Search is not installed on your computer when you try to use a feature that relies on it. Click here to learn how to get Windows Search from Microsoft.

Note Windows Search is installed by default on most Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

Is Windows Search running?

If Windows Search is installed on your computer but Taglocity Search, or other Taglocity features using the Windows Search service don't work, then it could be because the Windows Search service has been stopped. Jump to Start Windows Search for additional help.

Advanced Query Syntax (AQS) is a technology supported by Windows Search that allows you to find Outlook items that have been tagged by Taglocity. Using AQS, you can quickly define and narrow your searches for even more targeted results. Simply type your search query into the Windows Search box and press Enter. Here are some ideas:

tag:("tag a" OR tagB)

tag:(tagA AND tagB)

tag:(tagA NOT tagB)

tag:(("tag a" AND "tag b") OR TagC)

Tip Taglocity Search also supports Advanced Query Search. Simply enter the search query into the keyword box and press enter.

About Google Desktop Search

Google Desktop Search is not supported because it does not index Outlook categories. Taglocity tags are saved as Outlook categories on Outlook items and therefore the search engine needs to know about them.
