Add Tags

Show/Hide Hidden Text

There are two simple ways to add (create) a new tag. You can create a new tag on-the-fly in the Tagger, or by adding it to tags collection in the Configuration dialog box. When tags are added on-the-fly they are added to the tags collection automatically where they can be sorted and bundled later if necessary in the Configuration dialog box.

Jump to Tagging Outlook Items for help with assigning tags.

About Bundles (Parent and Child Tags)

A tag that sits under another tag is called a child tag. A tag that has one or more child tags (tags below it in the hierarchy) is a called a parent tag. Both are still tags. A parent tag, with its child tag(s), represents a bundle. The same tag can exist in multiple locations in the hierarchy which means a tag can be a parent multiple times, and it can be a child under different parents. You simply add a new tag and give it the same name as an existing tag to duplicate it. Remember, properties are the same for all tags with the same name so if you change properties on tag in one node in the tag list tree, then it will be changed for all instances. Jump to Bundles and Child Tags to learn more.

To add tags on-the-fly in the Tagger

2.In the Tagger (Type here to Tag box), type in a new tag name
3.Press Enter (by default Taglocity will prompt you for confirmation)
4.Choose Yes to confirm (by default the Tag Properties dialog box will open for you to change default settings if you like)
5.If necessary, change the default properties
6.Click OK to save and close the dialog box

To add tags using the Taglocity Configuration form

1.Click the Taglocity toolbar button or ribbon tab, then choose Configuration
2.If you want the tag to be in a collection other than the default Personal collection, then click a new collection node
3.At the bottom of the Tags list, click the Add Tag button

or

Double click on the Click here twice to add a tag box

or

Right click on any tag and select the Add a Child Tag menu

4.Type the name of the tag, and press Enter
5.Set the properties as desired in the Properties section (click here for more information about properties)
6.Click OK to save changes (this closes the Taglocity Configuration form)

Note  If you do not press Enter in step 4, the tag will NOT be created.

Note The collection names, or root nodes in the Tags list, are not tags. When you first install Taglocity, there are two root nodes representing two tag collections: Personal and Other People's Tags. The Other People's Tags collection is a place Taglocity puts traveling tags that come attached to email from other people. You can override this default behavior and tell Taglocity to ignore other people's tags via a setting in Taglocity Configuration. Tags in the Other People's Tags collection do not appear in the auto-complete list when selecting tags by typing in the Tagger.

Note  If you use TeamFeed, then there will a tag collection for each group you belong to. Any changes you make in group collections are synchronized to all group members when they sign in.
