The Problem
Today business email is essentially "broken". Or rather it is at the stage where its bad habits are institutionalized and accepted as the norm.
For example, people routinely abuse 'Reply All', CC, and distribution lists for broadcasting non-actionable informational emails. This is 'office spam' that contributes significantly to email overload and distractions because all recipients must take the time necessary to process these emails.
Another consequence of pushing non-actionable informational emails directly into other people's inboxes is that knowledge gets locked up and it is often hard to retrieve on-demand (when not simply deleted), and it's definitely not available to stakeholders not on the original recipient list or people joining teams later.
People do this because up until now they didn't have a choice - email is such a simple way to broadcast information and everybody knows how to do it.
The result is email overload, lower productivity, wasted knowledge, and ultimately, reduced competitiveness. Estimates vary but one report from Intel suggests that it may cost as much as US$1 billion annually for a knowledge intensive company of 50,000 employees.
The Solution
The solution for today's email problems is to extend existing email systems with Enterprise 2.0 technologies to support the way people naturally use them. Email systems must evolve from a 'closed' person-to-person communications system to a hybrid solution featuring an 'open' collaborative platform for publishing and sharing non-private information.
From 'push' only to 'push' and 'pull' thereby giving people more control over their own attention and enabling on-demand knowledge discovery and sharing to all stakeholders.
In addition to being able to quickly find needed information, information should also 'find' people based on their criteria and terms.
For the first time, Taglocity 2.0 provides a viable alternative to Reply All, CC, and distribution list abuse that floods people's inboxes with non-actionable informational email. More importantly, this is a non-disruptive alternative that doesn't require users to abandon email for wikis or KM systems from the nineties.

Call to Action
The way we work is changing rapidly. The ever increasing speed of business coupled with the exponentially increasing rate of information production within the geographically expanding work communities is creating both opportunities and threats.
There is an enormous competitive advantage for individuals and business who embrace new systems that enable contextual, agile, and simplified information exchange to communities of knowledge workers, without requiring them to rewire their brains. In addition, reducing email overload and attention deficit boosts productivity and frees up valuable time for more important tasks.
Conversely there are potentially devastating risks for those who don’t embrace these systems: information overload, lost productivity, stress & underperformance, wasted knowledge (aka intellectual capital), crippled collaboration, ineffective knowledge transfer and inefficient information sharing. Our technology mitigates these risks.
