To reactive your license you will need to add your serial number back into the Taglocity configuration.
Here's the steps: (1) Close Outlook, as Taglocity will rewrite it's configuration when it's running. (2) Navigate to the folder '(DriveLetter):\Documents and Settings\(YourUserName)\Application Data\IngBox Software\Taglocity. Please note that the folder 'Application Data' is hidden by default, but you can still access it by typing in the name as a location. (3) Use Notepad to edit the text file 'tagsconfig.xml'. If you have your old tagsconfig.xml file still around then you can place it in here and you're done. The next steps just show how to update a new one with your license key. (4) Find the line that looks like this: <serialNumber /> and change it to look like this: <serialNumber> TAGLCTY000-0000-0000-0000-0000-0000</serialNumber>. ..but with your actual serial number you have from your order email. If you've lost this then let us know and we'll happily look it up. (5) Save the file and exit Notepad. (6) Restart Outlook. Your license should now be activated and you can check this be seeing your license serial number via the 'Taglocity / About' dialog. PS We're updating this to be easier in the next update. Apologies for these manual editing steps.
Thank you for the prompt response. It seems I'm still having some trouble though.
I copied my original tagsconfig.xml file over to the new location but none of the settings contained therein persist when outlook is opened. The file is not overwritten; when I view the file in notepad I see all of the settings (s/n, tags, etc). Still, when I open outlook I am notified that my trial has ended and none of my tags exist (they all show as (unassigned), if they show at all). Thank you again for the help. Any other ideas on this one?
If you've installed all version since beta (thanks btw!)then it might be a .NET XML file incompatability. There seems to be a problem where one of the earlier file formats 'hangs around' and breaks the loading of a 1.0.4 config. It only effects those that were on the beta and have installed many versions.
There's two options I have so far: (1) Wait for v1.0.5. I think I have a fix, although it's proving hard to recreate here so I haven't got good confidence yet in the fix. This update is late coming out and still have a few more weeks work left to do. (2) Set your Outlook add-ins to run at .NET 1.1, as this seems to be a .NET 2.0 issue only. To do this you create please follow these steps: (a) Create a file called 'Outlook.exe.config' in a text editor (Notepad etc). (b) Paste in the exact following content: <configuration> <startup> <requiredRuntime version="v1.1.4322" safemode="true"/> </startup> </configuration> (c) Save this in the same location as your Outlook.exe, which is usually something like: (RootDrive):\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 When Outlook starts it will use this information as a way to determine what version of .NET it will use to load it's Add-Ins. As this is a .NET 2.0 problem only then this should solve it. Thanks for your patience - let me know if this works ok, or if you need any help with the file etc.
That config file worked like a charm! Tags are back, registration is back; everything seems to be working beautifully! Time and again this product has proven to be one of the most resilient, flexible, and useful in my productivity toolkit. I truly cannot say enough about this product or the fantastic people behind it.
Yet again an amazingly rapid, helpful, straightforward, and effective response. Thank you! |
