David,

ClearContext are giving away free copies of their product to anyone who posts a review on a public web forum..

See http://blog.clearcontext.com/2005/04/who_wants_a_fre.html

This is a compelling offer, as on paper it appears to provide more than just 'auto tagging' of email content.

Any posibility of you matching this with Taglocity?

That's a good idea - we'll look at doing that for the upcoming 1.1 release.

PS Andy - still would like to see that error log if you've still got that issue with the TagSearch? Thanks.

David,

I had actually uninstalled Taglocity.  I felt the demo restrictions were two restrictive for me to accurately assess the product using real life data. (limiting my tag cloud to 15 tags) I also felt the product was a little to buggy for me to commit to purchase, although i do like the concept.

I'll try and find time to re-install soon, and get some logging done.

I just looked at this offer. It is from 2005 and is for their Inbox Manager. This is not their full product but rather the one that they are now offering free regardless of whether you post anything.

John,

I know the message is old but it is still valid, and DOES cover the full IMS PRO product.

I got my nice shiney free licence from them yesterday, with a promise of an upgrade to v3.0 when it becomes available.

I have been using for all of today, and can assure you my licence covers all of the feature of pro.

David,

I have also re-installed Taglocity and will keep you posted on any issues that are forthcoming.

Search is currently visible again, and the tag cloud docked nicely on the right had side of the Outlook window.

Andy,

Sorry. I saw the title "Inbox Manager". Since that is the name they use now for the free product, I assumed that is what you were getting - not IMS Pro.If you are getting the full product, that's quite a deal.

I have been looking at both ClearContext (CC) and Taglocity and actually lean towards the simplicity of the latter. Here are some of the reasons:

- CC made me do things by their rules - not mine. I work out of Unread Mail and use Rules to put emails in folders - they insist I work out of the Inbox.
- They do not allow tagging for HotMail or RSS feeds or multiple tags.

I think the main feature CC offers over Taglocity is the prioritization of email - but unless you get hundreds of emails with lots of spam included or keep all your email in the Inbox for some time (I don't), I think it sounds more important than it is.

I cannot argue with the price you are paying for ClearContext however. If it is the one you want, you did well.

John,

I understand fully what you are saying. However i see Taglocity and CC as two diffent products with limited overlap.  I can envisage using both to manage my email workload.

Taglocity is great for quick tagging (and if i can get search working!) retrieval.  whereas CC provides me with a workflow for actioning my emails (ala GTD).

I tend to work solely from my inbox, but perform very active management of the incoming emails.  I must admit i do not rely heavily on CC's prioritisation.  I keep my inbox under strict control of no more than maybe a couple of dozen items, so it is easy for me to determine priority myself.  I do not use RSS or hotmail so have no need to incorporate those into my email management.

As you say, you can't argue with the price, and if ultimately i ditch CC im not out of pocket.

I'd be interested to know of any other outlook productivity tools you use or have evaluated and how you got on with them. Perhaps you could email me direct to save glogging up the Taglocity forum!

Andy,

As I mentioned in my post, I am (still) looking at both. Those are the only two Outlook add-ins that I am looking at presently. Both Taglocity & CC seem to be excellent products.
I mentioned a few of the reasons I like the simplicity of Taglocity. Let me also mention a few other things that CC offers that can actually be done quite easily by just using Outlook 2007: creating a task from an email & creating a meeting. You can in fact drop an email on the Task pane or Calendar pane to create the above.
I do not mean to be one-sided. CC has a few things I wish Taglocity had. I have mentioned several to David right here in the Forum.
I think it is great that there are two products like these that have so much to offer.
