Store Settings in Outlook not working

Hi:

I have downloaded the latest 1.0.5 build and installed it on my primary Outlook machine.  From there, I have selected the "Store Settings in Outlook" checkbox.

On my second computer, I've also installed the latest build and I select "Store Settings in Outlook" and pick "Sync with Outlook Now" which results in a dialog box saying "Your settings have now been read from the Outlook store".  At this point I'm ecstatic.  This state of ecstacy continues when I close the Taglocity settings dialog only to watch all my tags magically appear in the Tag Cloud.  Yoohooo!!

But then, hopes are crushed because new mail isn't getting classified by AutoTag on my second computer.  In fact, selecting a bunch of mail items and manually doing a Tools->AutoTag->"AutoTag Current Selection" operation doesn't tag any of my mail.  On my primary machine, almost all of these messages would have been auto tagged because I have an extensive training set already established for most of my auto tags.

So, I'm stuck.

Is the Outlook data store not storing Auto Tag statistics?  I seem to recall requesting a feature to optionally turn that on.  Please clarify.  If this is indeed the case, what do you recommend as a workaround?  Should I manually sync those files between machines?

Hi Irfan,

No, the AutoTag stats are not stored in the Outlook store as yet, as we wanted to do some more work in getting their size down to something more reasonable - that's ongoing work and apologies it didn't make the 1.0.5.

Yes, the best workaround for now is just to take a copy of the 'Document and Settings/(YourUsername)/Application Data/IngBox Software/Taglocity/Classifiers' directory and copy it over to the second computer. This will allow your AutoTags to work as well as the first computer, but has a downside that any training does not travel back.

In the short-term you can either enable a windows roaming profile (if possible for your environment) or use something like Microsoft's FolderShare to keep them in sync. I'm experimented with that a little, but please do keep a back up of your whole 'Application Data/IngBox Software/Taglocity' directory downwards before you try.

This is an early version of this feature, and we aim to do a lot more in this area, so thanks for the feedback.

I see.

fyi: my crm114 folder was 18M zipped.  76M unzipped.

I have 25 tags.  Each corresponding .css file is 3.1M.  Each file is very compressible (you should consider a lightweight compression at some point if Outlook store space is a concern).  For example, my Status.css file compressed down to 266K from 3.1M.

OK, which files should I copy over to get the classifiers updated.  I only want to copy the files absolutely necessary since I don't want to inadvertently override any settings.

Just the *.css files, as they are the data.

Yes, the compression is good, although the structure is static and starts to get much worse as they fill up their 'trees'.

Secret tip: The cssutil.exe in that directory can be used to import/export data to the .css files - if you are really keen then you can resize your data files for your best mix between storage (which is basically memory pages) and accuracy. I'd back up the files first though... ;-)
