Not sure if this a feature or a by product of being private...

* I created a Private tag, ie: a non traveling tag.
* I created a new email and selected this (and other tags).
* I sent the email.
* I looked at the email in the sent folder, and it didn't have the private tag.

After thinking about it, I guess this is somewhat expected, but not exactly what I was hoping would happen.  I guess I was hoping that the tag wouldn't get sent with the email, but would still be associated with my 'sent' item.

If this is in fact how it works, it really means you can't add private tags to an item that is going to be sent, as they will get stripped out.  It may make managing the tags on sent items a little trickier.

Yes, I did have a think about this one - it's not simple , but still pretty interesting though :-)

I decided that 'strip if in doubt' was better, as although it made the 'finding later' much poorer, it would be an always accurate record of what you actually sent to someone.

I could be persuaded back the other way though, as that is what this forum is all about afterall :-)

Also, I think it is related to 'conversation management' too, as in if you marked private tags on an outgoing would you expect them correlated correctly on the way back 'in'?

An example, one very useful feature of Taglocity I now use all the time is tagging things that I send so that when they come back they are 'tagged for me' already. If you expect multiple replies then this is very handy.

That way if I have TagActions or even Outlook rules, the system sorts itself out. It's also a really nice way to get immediate indication on what the new email that has come in is about (not always obvious from the subject).

So if you sent private tags out, but then you still saw them on the 'Sent Folder', would any replies you get still have still have your private tags on?

What way would you prefer?
