My Inbox has 1196 items and adding new tags seems slow to me, but worse than that, each time I tag a message, the Inbox message list scrolls to a different view rather than just adding the tag. It seems to scroll so the newly tagged message is at the bottom.

While it isn't rescrolling all the messages, why does it need to do so at all?

It might be related to how you have configured your inbox to sort it's items?

By default you shouldn't be seeing behaviour like this, and it's not something I've seen before.

Is it possible you are sorting by the 'Modified' field?

When you tag an Outlook item it does modify/save it back to Outlook, so that might be what's happening.

You can reset your current view with a:

View->Arrange By->Current View->Define Views->Reset (button)

If this doesn't help then please let us know. You can also use the 'Report a Bug' menu option and that will make up a log so we can check it out in more detail.
