Tag by Conversation?

This is the idea of what you tag in an email thread causes the other emails to be tagged the same.

You don't really need this if you 'originate' the email and you tag it on the way out, as your replies are 'pre tagged' as they come back, but life's not like that.

So, who wants it, and how would you like it to work?

We're trying to sort through the different options for this, including having it 'always on' and how to manage exceptions, i.e. sometimes you might not want it on?

Ideas/opinions very welcome.

I _really_ like the idea, since I've been chasing down threads to tag, but as you mention, it needs to have a confirmation since the thread sometimes morph and messages 6 and 7 have nothing to do with messages 1-5.

Ditto to Bob, especially figuring out a way to handle the business problem of the morphing of a conversation to different threads.

One area of the idea that really appeals to me is - being able to manage follow up action at the Conversation/ thread level vs the item level.  I currently have to do it at the item level, so I get a lot of duplicates, I don't know which item is the latest, etc.

Outlook has never really come up with a good process for this.  I could see Tags on the thread/ conversation as a way to solve it.
