Getting Things Done?

Do any Taglocity Beta 2 users combine the Getting Things Done approach with Taglocity?

How do you do that and what extra features would you like to see in Taglocity to help that style?

I have a tag for indicating there more to do.  I can add that to the other tags and clear it when done.  I too am stumbling when it comes to getting out of the habit of manual sorting to folders.  The tags do come in very handy as there is very often the need for multiple tags and the emails are only placed in the most appropriate folder.  How often does someone get an email reply where one issue is addressed then another simply because the person replying feels it convenient to get more done with a single email.  Lots.  Taglocity is kicking butt.

Another feature I would like to see is the addition of an indicator in the email list that a message is tagged.  Like the flag in Outlook.  Even better would be to see the tags contained therin if one would hover over the indicator - like a tool tip.  This would prevent one from having to set up and change filters.

Yes, I think Tagolocity provides a more effective basis for implementing GTD that David Allen own outlook implementation. I tired it but could not cope with the rigidity of only being able to file in one folder. Given that so much of our input comes from email - I really think you are onto something with Taglocity.

I notice that Tag Actions will include the ability to raise a Task, but I don't know if Outlook enables the originating source i.e. an email to be associated with it. It would also be handy to associate more multiple emails with tasks.

I've also always had issues about using outlook tasks to manage things - needs multiple classifications!

As Graham mentioned, I too noticed that we will eventually be able to use tagActions to turn an email into a Task.  This is where I think Taglocity will achieve the "crossover" from giving us an excellent tool for keeping track of reference material (this is already going to be great but not the focus of this post) into a tool that helps us link our reference material to our Tasks in a simple but incredibly powerful way.  This is HUGE.

In one step, I will be able to move an email out of my Inbox, tag it so it can be found again easily, and then turn it into a Task or Project with buit in reference if necessary.  Some of this can be done manually and in several steps without Taglocity but from everything I've seen, Taglocity is the only one that has given us the best of many worlds.

I am an avid GTD user, and I have been working with Taglocity to see how I can implement it appropriate.

Did you know that Outlook itself can turn an email into a task?  You just move the email into the task folder.  You can then tag the task as you like, and/or allow the tags from the email side to stick.

Thanks JoAnne.  Yes, I love that feature in Outlook.  I just meant that the process will take several fewer steps and require less thought when we can start using the Task tagAction.
