Now that I can retain one folder and use tags to filter, it opens up the possibility to implement some useful email management strategies.

Don't know about others but I get copied on a lot of advisory emails i.e. no next actions but still important that I can trace things if I need to.

I can tag these, not only for other context's, but also with an 'Advice' tag. To complete this strategy, I need a NOT filter, currently you can select AND & OR. I could then leave my filter with NOT 'Advice' on or create a saved Tag Search to remove the clutter

Good idea Graham, I especially like it as the code is already in place, and was just disabled for the UI. :-)

We did this because we were unsure if people needed the NOT or not, and took out the click just to keep things as simple as possible.

For the next drop we will add in the ability to cycle around on the TagCloud filter clicks the AND->OR->NOT.

Just wanted to second the request for the "Not Filter."  Very useful idea.

I agree with the value of this feature. 

Some thoughts on implementation: having seen the original implementation with this capability turned on via clicking through the options in the filter cloud (ie: each click scrolled through AND, OR, NOT, No Filter), you need to make sure the NOT selection doesn't trigger an autofilter: this tends to return a huge list, especially as you are setting up the filter.

Perhaps a "apply filter" button would be useful when someone is setting up Not, or even generically.

The Apply is a good idea, not sure how to make it seamless but will take a good look.

Also, how do people feel about a 'special tag' called 'No Tag' in the filter/search Tagcloud? You could use it to say 'Anything without a tag on it?'
